Three Bakeries, One Tradition

In the heart of the Cotswolds, we are proud to call three beautiful bakeries our home: Bakery on the Water, Bakery on the Hill and Bakery on the Marsh. Each one has its own character, shaped by its setting and its community, but all are united by the same tradition. That tradition is simple. It is the belief that baking should be done with care, with time and with a respect for the craft that has fed people in the Cotswolds for generations.

Bakery on the Water

Our riverside bakery in Bourton-on-the-Water is where many people first discover us. Sitting right beside the River Windrush, it has become one of the most popular stops in the village. At busy times you will often find a line out of the door, with locals and visitors alike waiting patiently for their favourite loaf, a warm pastry or a slice of cake. The smell of fresh bread, the gentle flow of the river and the bustle of the village make Bakery on the Water a true Cotswolds landmark, and a place where people are happy to pause for something special.

Bakery on the Hill

Perched above the town, Bakery on the Hill brings people together. Walkers arrive ready for a well-earned treat, friends gather for coffee and cake, and families pause to enjoy the views that stretch out across the Cotswold countryside. This bakery has a lively spirit from the moment the doors open. Golden croissants and pastries line the counter in the morning, and the aroma of fresh loaves fills the air as the first customers arrive. It is a place that feels rooted in tradition yet full of daily energy.

Bakery on the Marsh

Bakery on the Marsh is the beating heart of our baking. This is where our busy kitchen is based, and customers can see the craft first-hand through the bakery windows. Dough is being shaped, loaves are sliding into ovens, and trays of pastries are prepared for the day ahead. The Marsh has a bustling atmosphere, alive with the rhythm of baking, and it gives visitors the chance to watch the work that goes into every loaf, scone and slice. It is a place that celebrates the theatre of real baking as much as the taste.

United by Craft and Community

Although each bakery has its own personality, they all share the same spirit. Every morning begins with ovens warming and bakers at work. The same care goes into a sourdough loaf at the Water as a sausage roll at the Hill or a fruit tart at the Marsh. Our recipes are guided by tradition, but what truly matters is the sense of place and the people who make each bakery part of their daily lives.

Our three bakeries are proud to be part of the Cotswolds. They are more than places to buy bread. They are places to gather, to watch, to share and to enjoy the simple pleasure of food made properly. Whether you find yourself by the Water, on the Hill or at the Marsh, you will always find the same warm welcome and the same commitment to craft.

Celebrating Cotswolds Recognition

We are also proud to have been recognised beyond our own doors. In 2024, our bakeries were named winners at the Cotswolds Life Food & Drink Awards, a moment that celebrated the work of our teams and the support of our customers. This year we are delighted to once again be named finalists in the 2025 awards, standing alongside many of the region’s finest food and drink producers.

This recognition means a great deal to us, but it would not have been possible without the loyalty of the communities we serve and the visitors who return to us time and again. Thank you for being part of our story.
